主讲人简介:
Constantin Christopoulos是加拿大多伦多大学土木工程系教授,迄今发表了150多篇科技论文,编写了两本全球使用的研究生教程,也是多项国际性专利的联合发明人,于2015-2016年作为外专局高端专家访问同济大学。
Christopoulos教授是CSA-S16加拿大钢结构规范编委会委员,参与了多项结构隔震技术及附加阻尼装置的咨询项目,在国际社会上发表了众多强调高性能体系的先进地震工程的演讲。
在过去的十年里,Christopoulos教授在多伦多大学的研究引领着自复位结构体系(如自复位支撑、框架及摇摆结构)的开发及实现。他的科研团队研发了先进的阻尼技术如粘弹性耦合阻尼器及弹塑性装置,用于高层结构的抗风和抗震。同时,他的研究成果也用于指导铸钢构件在地震工程领域的应用。Christopoulos教授和他的研究团队非常注重科技成果转化,并成功创办了两个独立于多伦多大学的科技公司。
 
Constantin Christopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. He is the author of more than 150 technical papers, of two textbooks that are used in graduate course throughout the world, and the co-inventor on several international patents. He has also been a visiting Professor at Tongji University for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Dr. Christopoulos is an associate member of the CSA-S16 Canadian Steel Code Committee, has been involved in a number of high-profile consulting projects involving the implementation of seismic isolation and supplemental damping devices in structures, and has presented numerous lectures on advanced seismic engineering with an emphasis on high-performance systems in the international community.
Over the past decade his research at the University of Toronto has pioneered the development and implementation of self-centering structural systems such as braces and frames and rocking structures. His team has also developed advanced damping technologies such as viscoelastic coupling dampers and viscoelastic-plastic devices for both the wind and seismic protection of high-rise buildings. He has also been supervising research over the past decade on the use of cast steel in seismic engineering applications, which has led to numerous developments that have been implemented in North America. Professor Christopoulos has also been active in the technological transfer of inventions develop within his research group and the creation of two successful University of Toronto spinoff companies.

如何引导高校科研成果的技术转化使公众利益最大化,特别是应用科学、医疗和工程研究方面,已成为世界性的研究热点。在过去的15年里,该目标得到高校、政府及工业界的众多支持和投资。如今,高校越来越注重创新,不仅是为了鼓励创造、创新和基础知识革新,也为了公众利益最大化过程中的知识应用,这包括将发明商业化以生产出商业产品。此外,发明者和大学之间潜在收益的公平分配的创新模型也是当今该领域的研究热点。
此次讲座中,Christopoulos教授将会简要介绍加拿大多伦多大学(一所世界性的领导研究机构和北美技术商业化的领导者及开发者)在该领域的总体策略,包括发明政策、商业化策略和高校基础设施建设的讨论,以及高校-政府-企业在发明商业化过程中的合作。

There is an increased interest throughout the world to enhance the technological transfer of University-based research, especially of applied science, medical and engineering research for the greatest public benefit. This goal has generated multiple efforts and investments by Universities, Governments and the Industry over the past 15 years to develop models to facilitate this technological transfer. Universities are increasingly focusing on novel methods to not only encourage creativity and innovation as well as basic knowledge creation but also to thetranslation of knowledge for the greatest possible public benefit, including by commercialization through development of Inventions into commercial products or processes. Universities are also developing innovative models forequitable sharing of potential revenues between the inventors and the University that can both encourage the disclosure and.
 
In this presentation, an overview of the University of Toronto’s – one of the world’s leading institutions in research and development and a leader in North America in the commercialization of ne technologies - overall strategy in this area will be provided. This will include a discussion on inventions policies, commercialization strategies and the infrastructure that has been set up at the University and through University-Government-Industry partnerships to commercialize the inventions.
 
Personal experiences from the creation and development of two University of Toronto startup companies will also be shared by the presenter.
